Autoplay Policy - Unmuted Autoplay Support

About autoplay policy

After the release of Chrome 66 in April, both Google Chrome and Safari are now moving towards stricter autoplay policy in order to improve the viewer experience, minimise incentives to install ad blockers, and reduce data consumption on expensive and/or constrained networks. Specifically, Google Chrome stores your video engagement preferences and offers you a personalised video experience. Check your media engagement on your own profile: chrome://media-engagement/.

THEOplayer's new autoplay capability detection will mute the stream when unmuted autoplay is no longer possible on these browsers. These changes are intended to give greater control of playback to users and to benefit publishers with legitimate use cases.
